Band Night at Southport FC

Posted by John Siddle on January 9, 2008 3:51 PM |

Southport FC supporters’ group, Trust In Yellow are holding a band night at the Grandstand, Haig Avenue, on Friday to support Ugandan boys team, Southport Wanderers.

Profits from the event will help pay for the shipment of Port shirts and football boots to Africa.

Entry is £3, and doors open at 7pm.

Playing are Dominant Species, Same old Monday, Unhappy Mountains, Seven Story Record, Odd Conspiracy and Radio Transplant.

The event follows on from the successful Under 18's battle of the bands organised by Trust In Yellow in October 2007, and is the second monthly live music night to be held at the Grandstand.

Profits from events held thus far have paid for the shipment of 18 pairs of boots and 14 first team shirts to a boys team in Uganda which plays under the name of Southport Wanderers.

Paul Glendenning, TIY community liason officer, said: "An important part of the Supporters Trust remit is to widen community involvement and participation with the club."

Further events already scheduled at the Grandstand Bar include a quiz and acoustic music night on Friday, January 25, 7pm and a Soul Night planned for Saturday, April 5.
