February UK Tour

I'm leaving the Visiter offices on Friday - only for two weeks, much to the annoyance of my lovely colleague, Jo Kelly - to go on my first full tour of the UK.

Touring with me is winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Award - NYC singer/songwriter, Chris Ayer.

Frankly, I can't wait. From London to Edinburgh via Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester, there will be some serious mileage clocked up, but it's bound to be good laugh.

We've also got slots on Dune FM and Rock FM...and hopefully we'll come in and do a sesh for www.southportvisiter.co.uk

But, yeah. This is the itinerary...maybe I'll see you at a show?

PS: I think talking about music is like dancing about architecture, but there's some stuff about Chris in here too!

Joseph's Well, Leeds :: WEDNESDAY 13TH FEBRUARY – 7.30pm, £3.

WHO IS CHRIS AYER?
Chris got his start singing along to old cassette tapes of Elvis & Paul Simon on car rides as a kid growing up in Virginia.

When his Dad got him his first guitar as a teen, he began writing songs that same day. After moving to northern California, he started sharing his songs locally, while studying philosophy and music at Stanford University.

Lately he's spent most of his time travelling from town to town, playing for anyone who'll listen - the night stages are clubs and coffeehouses. The day stages are street corners.

His first full-length album, This Is The Place, is uniquely poetic; it is a travelling album about looking to feel at home in the world.

Chris won the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Award in October.

WHAT THEY SAY:
"Part street poet, part armchair philosopher, indie singer/songwriter Chris Ayer will leave you smiling whether you feel like smiling or not. You gotta love this guy... a delightful discovery."
- BuddyHollywood.com (sept. 07)

"He's talented... Bright Eyes mixed with James Taylor in the form of James Dean." -URB Magazine (sept. 06)

"This album has that controlled frantic pace, that almost feels like an album exploding from someone's soul. A wonderful album, with some sparks of sheer creative bliss."
- Indie Launchpad (march 07)
