West Coast psychedelic outfit Outrunning The Sun, based in Southport, play the town's Underground venue on May 2, 9pm, and Ormskirk band The Gomars play the Comrades Club at 8pm.
But none of you will be attending that as I am playing Cafe Matisse the very same night.
The second heat of Cafe Matisse's Band Royale kicks off tomorrow night at 8pm, with six local bands competing for a place in the next round.
Bands lined up to play this Friday include Sour Mash, Munich and Penny Blacks.
Tramps and Horses, The Time Flies and Joyce complete the line-up.
Charlie Landsborough performs at Southport Theatre next month.
The acclaimed musician, who lives in Birkenhead, first sprang to fame when he was in his fifties. His song ‘What Colour is the Wind’ reached number 1 in the Irish charts.
The country singer-songwriter will intersperse music with anecdotes on May 8 at 7.30pm.

Two local lads will be fundraising for Oxfam by performing acoustic showcases in the charity's London Street store on Saturday 26 April, 1pm.
42 bands from all over the country are to descend on Southport to take part in the resort's biggest-ever 'battle of the bands' competition.
Throughout April and May, bands and solo artists will showcase at Cafe Matisse, aiming to win the £1000 top prize.
Cut Out Productions, who regularly hold successful nights at the Cambridge Walks bar, are hosting the competition - dubbed 'Band Royale'.

The Good Neighbours formed in January of this year, and were created from nothing more than a jamming session between friends on a cold wet night in Banks.
Unaware of each others' outstanding talent, Jake Pilkington and John Markey have been next door neighbours for the past 14 years and never thought of creating music together until earlier this year.
To listen to their sound, as I’m sure you will agree, you will come to the conclusion that this songwriting duo had been honing their talent for the last ten years.
Manchester band, The Yellhounds, make their first Southport appearance this Friday. The country-blues-rock-Americana band play at Dil Pickle on Cable St (off Neville St).
The five members include two Southport lads, Tom Carver and Gaz Howard.
