The Yellhounds at the Dil Pickle

Posted by John Siddle on April 1, 2008 3:48 PM |

Manchester band, The Yellhounds, make their first Southport appearance this Friday. The country-blues-rock-Americana band play at Dil Pickle on Cable St (off Neville St).

The five members include two Southport lads, Tom Carver and Gaz Howard.

Their reputation has grown on the Manchester music scene over the last 12 months, with rousing performances at venues such as the Ruby Lounge and Dry Bar.

Gaz said: “I moved to Manchester to make my fortune, but I joined a country band instead. I’m looking forward to being back home and I hope plenty of people come and join in the revelry.

Formed in 2005 in South Manchester as Fultons Point they have been turning on crowds with their incendiary rock n roll ever since.

Uncompromised by skinny jeans and designer haircuts there is soul in this music, it’s been grown and cultivated and is ready to go!

A blend of many styles but with their own sound, the band have been honing their craft, churning out songs with melodies and grooves, making people dance and sing...live is where it all comes alive.
Throughout 2008, The Yellhounds are going to play hard.

A line of gigs at some of Manchester’s central venues, UK wide festivals and more videos and recording sessions are planned.

They are extremely impressive musicians, with a smoky charisma and an intelligent perception of where they could get to and how they are going to do it.

Add some catchy rhythms and interesting lyrics and you’ve got a damned good night out.

The Yellhounds are Brendan Cartwright on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Sean Cartwright on lead guitar, Gaz Howard on bass, Tom Carver on violin and keys and Carl Atkin keeping it all together from the back on drums.

Influences
Little Feat, The Band, Steve Earle, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Gene Vincent, Led Zeppelin, Stone Roses, Ryan Adams / Whiskeytown
