Success for Silk Pigs

Halsall band, The Silk Pigs have made a shortlist of 30 bands vying to to win a national unsigned compertition - beating of competition from over 1000 entries.

They now need your help securing the public vote.

The final 30 bands all have tracks online and over the next week (voting closes on the 20th June) will be subject to public voting.

The five bands with the highest votes then move on to an industry showcase gig at the legendary Pigalle Club in London.

The winner will play at the famous Benicassim festival in Spain.

The final 30 bands will also have their tracks made available for download from Itunes stores worldwide as part of the promotion for the compertition.

The Silk Pigs hail from Halsall, Wigan and Widness and have been togeather since October 2007.

In February 2008 they recorded their first demo EP which was produced by Spooner, who has previously worked with Oasis.

The Silk Pigs also have had positive feedback on the demo from Radio One's Zane Lowe.
